Stephanie Lin is the founder of Present Forms, a New York-based creative practice that engages architecture, design, and art as modes of sustained material and formal inquiry. Her work spans atmospheric environments, installations, and objects that reframe perceptions of cultural and environmental contexts in transformation.
Notable works include Taffy, a large-scale art installation built for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in 2025, set to be relocated to the City of Palm Desert in 2027. Lin is also a member of the design collective Office III, which was one of five finalists in MoMA PS1’s Young Architects Program in 2017 and completed the Governors Island Welcome Center in New York, NY.
Lin’s work has been exhibited at The Museum of Modern Art (New York, NY), Storefront for Art and Architecture (New York, NY), The National Academy of Design (New York, NY), The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts (New York, NY), A+D Architecture and Design Museum (Los Angeles, CA), cneai= (Paris, France), Alcova (Miami, FL), Luminaire (Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles), and several universities. She has been featured in Metropolis, Monocle, Cultured, Flaunt, Domus, Hospitality Design, Dezeen, The Architect’s Newspaper, and ArchDaily.
Through her teaching and leadership, Lin has promoted collective approaches to cultivating material and formal knowledge across diverse social and ecological settings. From 2021 to 2026, she served as Dean of The School of Architecture (TSOA), founded by Frank and Olgivanna Lloyd Wright, leading the school through its transformative years at the historic campuses of Arcosanti and Cattle Track Arts Compound. During this time, she initiated new partnerships with the Taliesin Institute, Arizona State University, and others, making community building and external collaborations central to her academic leadership. In 2023, she received the AIA Arizona Design Pedagogy Award for her teaching on collective housing at TSOA.
Lin has led design studios and seminars at The Cooper Union, Pratt Institute, UC Berkeley, and Columbia University GSAPP. She is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor at Pratt GA/LA/UD and will return to The Cooper Union as the Spring 2027 Feltman Chair.
Lin earned a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from UC Berkeley and a Master of Architecture I with Advanced Placement from the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
