Description
Aurea is a gently-animated multisensory environment that captures the cycles and overlaps of daily rituals, presenting a series of floating, color-changing chambers that create subtle interfaces between working, resting, and gathering.
The project draws inspiration from architectural visions for future domesticities of the twentieth century, from Friedrich Kiesler’s ever-evolving Endless House concepts to Alison and Peter Smithson’s House of the Future exhibition, in which rooms, technologies, and rituals are expressed through flowing rather than conventionally compartmentalized spaces. The installation’s main chamber is a direct citation of the Smithsons’ courtyard as it mediates floating cylindrical rooms of different sizes and proportions.
Conceived as a proposal for a technology event in New York, the installation reflects on the presence of tactility in response to the increasingly invisible processes that shape everyday life.
